OLD ROAD
The old road seen in this picture is representative of the old roads to be found in the Colorado mountains. Some of them parallel their replacements, some are in spots the foundation for their replacements.  Many of the old highways wound up the outside edge of the mountain doubling back in a classic hair pin turn to move toward the top. Note the large blocks along the outer edge of this segment, these stone blocks were the guard rails of that day.  They are approximately two feet from inner to outer edge, and four feet long and two feet high (from ground level).
