TRACKS
THE RED COLOR OF THESE WORDS COULD WELL STAND FOR THE BLOOD SHED SO THAT A RAILROAD COULD LAY THE TRACKS YOU SEE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS CANYON.
NO!  IT WAS NOT AN INDIAN WAR.
This was a war between white men over the right to lay track through the Royal Gorge, (which is located just west of Canyon City, in southern Colorado) a thousand foot deep chasm coveted for its easy grade by two competing railroads.  The tracks in this picture are on the northwestern end of that line.
